New Computer: tiny101

My new computer has finally arrived, and I’ve just finished setting up a working environment. I had gripes with several parts, but in the end I managed to solve them. I will blog about each part in the future, and I’ll mention how well it works with Gentoo Linux!

But for now, here is a summary of the system:

AMD Athlon64 X2 6000+ (3.0GHz, Dual Core)
ASUS M2N-E Motherboard
2GB of Corsair XMS2 Memory (PC2-6400 DDR2-800)
EVGA E-GEFORCE 8600GTS (256MB of Memory)
Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro Heat sink
Belkin F5D7050 Wireless USB Stick
LG L226WTX-BN 22IN Widescreen LCD
Antec Nine Hundred Gamer Case
OCZ GameXStream Power Supply (600W)
Seagate Barracuda 250GB Hard Drive
Samsung SH-S183A DVD Writer
Creative Sound Blaster X-FI Xtreme Audio Sound Card

Logitech LX700 Cordless Desktop Keyboard and Mouse

I think it is a good system overall, and it cost about $1600 to put together. Of course, the monitor was a quarter of the cost, so if you want to go with something cheaper, replace that part.
