Reseting A Frozen Samsung m620 Cellphone
I was playing with the Bluetooth pairing capabilities of my new Samsung m620 by connecting it to my new laptop, and transferring a few files. Everything worked good, and so I put away the cell phone without disconnecting the Bluetooth connection. The next morning I found the phone showing a error message that the connection was disturbed, because the computer was turn off. However there were no options to confirm the notice, so I decided to press the flip button. Not a good idea, because the whole phone locked up. None of the keys were responsive and both screens were dark. However one screen was brighter than the other, and I could switch which screen it was by pressing the flip button (still working). I could still see when someone called me, but when I tried to answer nothing happened and the ringtone started to loop forever.
None of the buttons worked, which means that I could not power off or reset the phone by using the tiny need-a-pencil-tip RESET switch at the side. So I decided to call Telus support, because the ringtone was getting to my head. The personnel there was very friendly, and after some time they figured out how to do the hard reset. This was not written in any of the manuals and I could not find any information on it on the internet, so I think it would be a good idea to share it.
If you have a Samsung m620 (or probably any other Samsung phone) that is frozen up and none of the buttons are responding, then you can perform a hard reset by first holding the power button and then hitting the RESET switch on the side with a push pin. Only after that you can let go of the power button. Make sure not to do it the other way around – hold RESET and then press power – because it will not work. I tried. Also you should not lose any of your data or settings while doing this, at least I didn’t.
